The article contains an analysis of the accounts of the Smolensk catastrophe of April 10, 2010 in Russian media. On account of a specific context of this tragedy (the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre) the article is also an attempt to highlight the role of the collective memory of the Katyn massacre in Polish-Russian relations. The analysis has been done on the major Russian opinion-forming press titles.
