The communiqué focuses on selected issues connected with the production of faience in Poland in the 19th c. It quotes some opinions of nineteenth-century users concerning products of various pottery workshops, especially on the source of inspiration for shaping and decorating earthenware, but also on its technological properties. The latter issue seems to be most interesting for an archaeologist, as products of many workshops functioning in the 19th c. have not survived until the present day. The texts is by no means a comprehensive survey of the topic; it only points to certain aspects of faience manufacturing which can be a starting point for further research on pottery production in the 19th c. and earlier.
