The study focuses on folk linguistics used in stenographic records from the sessions of the Poslanecká sněmovna [Chamber of Deputies] of the Parliament of the Czech Republic during the period 1993–2025. Through a qualitative-collocational analysis of written records, it explores how deputies, as non-linguists, conceptualize language, particularly proper names (mostly personal names), and how they present and comment on certain topics related to language and proper names in their discussions. First, a quantitative analysis using the ParlCorp corpus (a part of the Czech National Corpus) was conducted. Its aim was to gain initial information about the frequency of selected expressions in the corpus. This was followed by a collocational analysis focused on collocates associated with the examined expressions. The quantitative analysis was complemented by a qualitative functional-semantic analysis. In this analysis, the stenographic records were examined to determine which topics related to language in general, the Czech language, and proper names are discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, and whether the political affiliation of individual speakers is reflected in their approach to these topics.
