This text is an extended version of a lecture, given in September 2004 at the XIIIth International Congress (“Musik und kulturelle Identität”) of the Gesellschaft für Musikforschung in Weimar. The author characterizes the most important complete critical editions, started in the Bohemian Lands from 1920s–1970s – among others Souborné dílo Bedřicha Smetany [The Complete Edition of Works of Bedřich Smetana], the so-called Studijní vydání děl Bedřicha Smetany [The Study Edition of Bedřich Smetana’s Works], Souborné vydání děl Zdeňka Fibicha [The Complete Edition of Works by Zdeněk Fibich] and the first Souborné vydání děl Antonína Dvořáka [The Complete Edition of Works by Antonín Dvořák], and he looks into their historical and ideological backgrounds.
