When the post-1945 superpower opposition, which had lasted almost half a century, ended, all states of the Central European region embarked upon the road to European integration. The territories of Hungary and all NATO allies are not threatened by military aggression, and the risk of other traditional threats is minimal. In his article, the author investigates the factors which support this statement and how Hungary's extended and closer environment has transformed in the light of traditional threats.
