EN

The economic function of the family was one of the primary functions and conditions of the survival of an individual within the society in the past. This function was eliminated during the 40 years of socialism thanks to its ideology; it only existed in a hidden form (socialistic underworld). After the change of the regime in 1989 it has immediately been manifested as a primary determinant of some of the families. Behavior stereotypes; hierarchy; forming of the character; opinions and attitude; identity - these are the categories which the given families specified as the original elements of the social and professional stratification in Slovakia.
