The aim of the paper is to provide a characteristics of Polish folk names of space objects and to determine the models of their formation. The analysed material, coming from various ethnographic as well as ethnographic-linguistic works, includes collections of Polish dialectal astronyms from 19th and 20th centuries, referring to Venus, some stars and constellations, recognisable from the Earth by the naked eye. This material has been analysed from the onomastic point of view, according to the bases of the collected names, their semantic elements and functions of the individual names.
