Lake Gosciaz is situated in the western part of the Gostynin Lake District. It belongs to the small group of lakes with annually laminated bottom sediments. The interdisciplinary research of Lake Gosciaz and its annually laminated sediments started in 1987 and were carried out by Magdalena Ralska-Jasiewiczowa. The archaeological research within this program was carried out by Andrzej Pelisiak and Małgorzata Rybicka from 1990 to 1994. This paper is dedicated to the activity of the Mesolithic man as well as changes of natural environment which were the consequence of the settlements and economy of the hunter-gatherers communities. The results of palynological analyses are of fundamental importance in these deliberations. The changes of the natural environment caused by Mesolithic man will be presented on the basis of the pollen diagrams prepared for Lake Gosciaz and archaeological works carried out in its surrounding area.
