A flow of time is an important factor in the deliberations on the status of secret information. The legislature directly regulates the duration of this information protection with reference to its particular categories within the adopted classification. Moreover, it is necessary to consider whether - and if so, to what extend - secret information is subject to protection before its classification and what its status is after the expiry of the period of protection as defined in the act if its disclosure continued to be a threat for legal interests which are to be served by the institution of secret information. The above mentioned issues are the topic of the present article.
