The discussion on scientificity of new ideas and views is especially topical within the scope of economic sciences. In the past fifty years we could observe in this field of science considerable creative 'confusion'. New ideas came into being, new scientific schools and even new ideological views both in economics and business administration. They give rise to a sharp disagreement among economists on all levels of scientific team organizations - from chairs to the Central Commission for Academic Title and Academic Degrees. The article presents basic canons of scientificity of the output of scientific thought and their introductory exemplification based on economic sciences. The scope of the artcle encompasses description of fundamental notions: knowledge, science, canons of scientific cognition and the scientific research process and also important economic notions and categories. Main differencies between contemporary trends in economics and methodological diversity of economics and business administration have been indicated.
