There are numerous reasons of annulment of marriage in Italian law. All of them are specified in Italian civil code (sixth title, third chapter, sixth section, articles from 117 to 123). Definitely matrimonial disabilities are the most important of them. There are following disabilities specified in Italian civil code: disability of age (a person who doesn't come of age cannot contract a marriage; in opposite case the matrimony should be void), disability of incapacitation because of mental illness, disability of bigamy, disability of affinity, propinquity, adoption and substitute family. Another reason of annulment of marriage is a faulty declaration of contract marriage (because of someone's threat, pressure or for the sake of appearances). The most important is that the reason of annulment of marriage must come when the marriage is contracted and not afterwards.
