The article presents circumstances of supply chain modeling and design. According to the author, Business Process Orientation created by T. Davenport in 1933 is the most efficient approach to modeling business processes. For planning purposes it was adapted by W. Deming, for redesign of supply chains by J. B. Ayers. The paper presents principles of redesign of supply chain consisting of three stages. The last part of the study concerns building of the supply chain partnerships and selection of criteria for assessment of the supply chain model chosen for implementation
