Bernard Bischoff was Professor of Medieval Latin Studies at the University in Munich. His immense work was concentrated on the manuscript studies of the Early Middle Ages and the Carolingian Period. Not only the Script, but also the Codex, the Libraries and Latin Literature of these times were in focus of his interest. His chef d´oeuvre, the Catalogue of the Manuscripts of the 9th century, was completed after his death. Some bibiographical referencies make possible detailed information. Few personal remarks close this short sketch.
