The author of the paper focuses on the growth of the number of by-names and surnames in the community of Pozlovice near Luhačovice (Central Moravia). Since 1598, when only 36 by-names were recorded, the number of personal names increased more them twentyfold up to our days. The oldest and most frequent names appearing in the community are analysed in terms of their etymology. Also some new surnames, some of which are of German or Hungarian (or even Italian or Irish) origin, are devoted some attention.
