The article is written from the position of an advocate of the classical concept of economic liberalism. The author tries to prove that freedom is the value which should be protected the most as actions of free people who are responsible for their own life choices are the guarantee of well-being of the society. Economic increase does not guarantee equal opportunities; however, it ensures greater sums to be shared in the future, which entails better prosperity for everybody. Proving this thesis, the author presents the achievements of the majority of the most important liberal economists of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
