The author examines the German words in Slovak vocabulary and comes to the conclusion, that the majority of the German loanwords in Slovak were adopted directly from German language. Only a small part of German loanwords was intermediated into Slovak language through Czech language. The same refers to Polish. Czech influence on the Slovak language has lasted incomparably longer than to the Polish language. It could play role of the intermediator even to the present days, but the number of intermediated German loanwords in Slovak is substantially lower than it was presupposed.
