The article is focused on the suffix -sk-, frequently found in Swedish lake names. The first part is devoted to the lake name Ålsken, interpreted from the Old-Swedish *Olske(r) ‚lake belonging to the valley of Ol (meaning ‚long, narrow valley‘)‘. In the second part other Swedish names including the suffix -sk- are mentioned (e. g. Gersken or Sandsken) nad their word-formation is discussed.
