The article is focused on the issue of etymology of archaic Slavonic hydronyms, derived from the bases *s7-j6m-, *mol-, *pel-, *Ok-, *p6stl-. The Croatian hydronym 'Zaym pataka' is, according to the author, connected with Ukrainian dialectal 'soimu' (river confluence), resulting from the Ur-Slavic *s7j6m7. The hydronym'Molvice' has been so far referred to as unclear. The author assumes the Ur-Slavic basis *mol7/*mo-la; cf. Slovene dialectal 'mol' (river sand). The Russian hydronym 'Polga' is connected with Indoeuropean *pel (pour, saturate). Byelorussian lake name 'Ukoie' is interpereted as derived from Indoeuropean *ank- (crooked). The Ukrainian hydronym 'Psel' is, according to the author, connected with Ur-Slavonic *p6stl7 (varied, vari-coloured).
