This article presents the state of current Polish historical research on the courts and entourage of the Silesian Piasts in the Middle Ages. It enumerates and characterises studies published so far on this problem, the number of which is not, however, particularly impressive. A relatively short list of articles visibly contrasts with the number of dukes who originated from this powerfully extended Silesian line of dukes from the Piast dynasty. The article presents various authors’ suggestions concerning the definition of concepts such as court and its entourage, but also means of determining its cultural level and ethnic relations that lied at its core.
