This paper focusses on the daily routine of the king as it is discussed in the 'Kautiliya-artha-sastra' and in the other texts listed below. Moreover, we deal with the daily routine of the man-about-town in the 'Kama-sutra' and of the poet in the 'Kavya-mimamsa' and try to elucidate the dependence or independence of these traditions. The author shall subdivide his paper as follows: A. The daily routine of the king: 1- 'Kautiliya-artha-sastra'; 2- 'Niti-vakyamrta' and other 'Jain' sources; 3- 'Dasa-kumara-carita'; 4- 'Manu-smrti'; 5- 'Yajnavalkya-smrti'; 6- Other evidence. B. The daily routine of the man-about-town: 'Kama-sutra'. C. The daily routine of the poet: 'Kavya-mimamsa'. Conclusions
