Even more recent literature on the medieval development of the Czech lands still struggles with several blank spaces, which are only slowly being filled. These include questions related to the nature of medieval ownership and its anchoring in time and space. These are not topics for themselves. They fit into the conception of broader medieval research, which aims to capture the main developmental trends in the social, economic, and cultural areas. The problem set out in this way can hardly do without accompanying studies and research. One of these is the study of basic concepts denoting landed property. Their content and meaning shifted in official and narrative sources as society changed. Such research not only contributes to a deeper understanding of property rights, but also to general insights into medieval social and economic processes.
