The authoress outlines a profile of video-clip and audio-visual artist Chris Cunningham. His works focus primarily on a fascination for the anatomy of humans and mechanics of robots. His attempt to combine the opposites - untamed organics and technological precision - has become his artistic credo and determines the aesthetics of all his works. Cunningham uses elements of high tech of the highly urbanized industrial environment to create the climate that may seem to be pessimistic or gloomy to the inexperienced spectator. However, those who listen to progressive electronic music (for whom Cunningham's work is addressed) find this aesthetics more appealing than the colourful unreal world of dance parties shown in mainstream video-clips. She tries to argue that Cunningham's artistic work cannot be only enclosed within the art of video-clips. It should be rather included in the current of audiovisual avant-garde that expands film aesthetics into hitherto unknown territories.
