This article deals with the social and ideological aspects of attempts that were made at constructing an organizational structure of the scientific management in Poland in the 1920s. The author points out both the elements of continuity within the value system of the Polish intellectuals and science, progress, and social committal's values, as well as the new factors that were connected with an attitude towards work, in particular concerning efficacity and partnership. This new outlook upon work was a starting point in laying down norms for the manager's social role. It has also showed the open access presented by the Polish pioneers of the scientific management to the experiences of the highly developed western societies.
