In the paper author considers social representations of privacy based on empirical research - The Unfinished Sentences Test. The main goals of the text are to begin defining such terms as: private life and private sphere, and to discuss functions of privacy, how it is experienced and what is its role in individual and social life. It also deals with the threats to privacy in contemporary societies.
