W opracowaniu przedstawiono wyniki badań empirycznych z zakresu oceny kapitału intelektualnego polskich regionów. W badaniach posłużono się narzędziem syntetycznego miernika kapitału intelektualnego. Zastosowane techniki konstrukcji miernika są w pewnym stopniu zbliżone do metodologii tworzenia Europejskich Innowacyjnych Kart Wyników (ang. European Innovation Scoreboard), gdzie stosuje się ogólnie przyjęte wytyczne metodologiczne odnośnie do konstrukcji wskaźników syntetycznych dla oceny innowacyjności krajów i regionów. W badaniu weryfikacji poddano tezę stanowiącą, iż istnieje pozytywna zależność pomiędzy poziomem kapitału intelektualnego a rozwojem gospodarczym regionów. W pierwszej części opracowania przedstawiono metodologię konstrukcji miernika kapitału intelektualnego regionów. W dalszej kolejności dokonano oceny stopnia oddziaływania kapitału intelektualnego na kapitał finansowy regionów poprzez zbadanie powiązań pomiędzy tymi dwoma formami kapitałów. Kategorie kapitału intelektualnego i kapitał finansowy opisane wartością mierników syntetycznych zostały poddane analizie statystycznej przy wykorzystaniu ekonomettycznej funkcji regresji czynnikowej. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań wykazały, iż istnieje wyraźna zależność pomiędzy kapitałem intelektualnym a kapitałem finansowym województw. Powyższa prawidłowość została potwierdzona przy założeniu istnienia określonych związków przyczynowych w ramach struktury kapitału intelektualnego. Zatem, można stwierdzić, iż elementy składowe kapitału intelektualnego współdziałając wpływają na wyniki ekonomiczne polskich województw.

The paper presents results of empirical research on the level of intellectual capital in polish regions. In order to do a research a special technique was implemented namely the consolidated intellectual capital measure, which includes the most essential indicators. The IC measure technique is based on the methodology used in the construction of European Innovation Scoreboard, which describes the innovativeness of countries and regions. Also it was described how the polish regions differ from one another concerning the key IC factors. The main thesis of the conducted research assumes that there is a positive correlation between the level of regional intellectual capital and economic development of these regions. Firstly, the methodology of measure construction has been shown along with the justification for the selection of the groups of individual indicators. After that the empirical relations between the two variables have been depicted. The statistical analysis has been made by using the econometric regression function as well as the Partial Least Squeres and Path Analysis. The results admitted a clear positive relation between the level of intellectual capital of the selected regions and their economic position. It's been positively verified that the IC factors have an essential influence on the economic development of polish regions.
