This article is a summary of the experience gained by the author during an audit conducted on the Silesian Industrial Monuments Route. Although the starting point of this paper is to set out a specific study of the tourist product, sought to include in its proposals and reflections relevant to the management of cultural heritage trail, as such. This article presents such different perspective on cultural routes (in the context of their designated purposes), as well as possible for use in the Polish conditions in terms of creating solutions for trail management structure (with an indication of the strengths and weaknesses of individual entities). Referring directly to the Industrial Monuments Route, the proposed scheme of categorization of objects and the requirements that should be placed on individual groups of monuments has been presented. In addition, areas of change, that must be introduced to genuine professionalization of the trail, have been defined.
