The article contains a description and analysis of methods aimed at the development of pro-environmental attitudes of rural residents in relation to the conducted research in protected areas with rich natural resources. The author discusses the nature of pro-environmental attitudes and their development, paying particular attention to the complexity and objective and subjective difficulty of this process. The analysis of literature and empirical studies with the support of the knowledge of psychology, socjology and andragogy allows the selection of the most effectives in promoting proekological attitudes. These incentives are of educational, economic, legal/administrative and social nature, with the inclusion of economic infrastructure and political stimulation barriers. Involvement of rural residents in the creation of local environmental policy should help to reveal their inner potential and foster the creation of local community-based care for the common territory.
