The article is an outline of the issue of cultural routes management. The professionalization of this kind of routes and the pursuit to make them modern tourist products requires introducing mechanisms and procedures known from the institution, organization and company operation. It will be possible only when the cultural routes are clearly-designed structures with a clearly-outlined hierarchy. It will enable to delegate tasks and competences allowing efficient and effective management of the available potential. It cannot be forgotten that the whole activity must lead to a precisely-defined goal and must be realized according to a drawn-up program. Therefore, apart from the formal side of organization, working out the mission and strategy of developing individual cultural routes is extremely important.
