The article synthesizes the key changes which have occurred in the entrepreneurial attitudes of Polish rural population since Poland’s joining the EU. These changes are reflected in the shifts in the number and structure of agricultural holdings and other economic operations in rural areas. The speed and direction of these changes depends mainly on the awareness of the rural population of EU programmes aimed at developing their respective areas. Special attention is given to the spatial distribution of the described changes.
