The foundation and activity of two associations, Spolek českých úředníků železničních (Association of Czech Railway Employees) and Zemská jednota zřízenců drah (Provincial Association of Railway Servants) are described from the late 19th century to the end of World War I. Their attitude to the problem of nationalism among the railway workers in Cisleithania is briefly dealt with.
