This paper presents the representative features of routine formulaes in German. Phraseological units can be defined as word groups that cannot be made in the process of speech, they exist in the language as ready-made and ready for use lexical forms. In my research I aimed at finding more about the relationships between the theoretical aspects and practical use of the routine expressions. This specific type of phraseological units is reflected in the language-system and practical communication itself. Moreover, the dependencies between the speaker and the in the interpersonal interaction listener can be easily detected.
