The text presents the notion of primordial consciousness [ye shes], which is the key term of Tibetan tathagatagarbha philosophy. It consists of a philological-philosophical analysis based mainly on the text “The Torch of Shentong Madhyamaka”, which is one of the most advanced treatises of Tibetan tathagatagarbha philosophy, and, at the same time, has not been analyzed so far in Western research.
