The aim of the article is to depict and criticize the changes taking place in the EU, including Poland in financial reporting. Here is a thesis that the EU, and Poland strive for unification of accounting standards, guaranteeing the high quality of financial statements by typing in the current global trend, mapped out by IFRS, and even deepens the differences between the quality of the financial statements of some entities, applying the IFRS, and the other, applying the principles set out in the EU directive. Hence, it is difficult to predict what will be the future shape of the financial reporting of entities, operating in the EU and if anytime it comes to consensus at the interaction with modern global trends, set out by IFRS.
