The paper analyses the concept of being as used in Ontology by Władysław Stróżewski in the perspective of generality and modality. It is argued that, under some additional presumptions, the scope of the concept of being (in the distributive sense) is not a set, but a class in the sense of set theory. A scheme of modal concepts is proposed for a more effective conceptualization of ontological modalities than that used by Stróżewski, which is based on the concept of pure possibility.
