The paper focuses on the construction of the image of the female architect in the Czechoslovak official discourse of the 1950s and 1960s. The topic reflects the efforts to transform gender culture in the emerging period of state socialism in the 1950s and their modifications in the following decade due to the gradual stabilization of the system. The paper is focused on three important aspects that were proclaimed within these trends: the increase in the qualification of employed women, the increase in the number of women with technical education, and the ambivalence of the private and public spheres. The image of the female architect is framed by the concept of the new socialist woman.
