The study deals with the nomological issues of linguistics, especially with the impact of linguistic norms, rules and conventions on the actual linguistic praxis. Regarding the function of the norms as well as the background of a social anomy theory, the author implies three potential aspects: 1. The anomy – a state presented as the normlessness of a system, which is caused by the absence of norms, their mutual contradiction and also by their speed of change. 2. The hypernomy – a state of overregulation of the system, caused by oversensitiveness to the observance of the norms, hypertrophy of prescriptive approaches and also by the existence of sanctions in linguistic praxis. 3. The eunomy – a state of the optimal function of the norms in linguistic praxis.
