NOTA BENE is a street magazine sold by people who are homeless or in complicated social situations, and its publisher is the Against the Stream Civic Association (hereafter Against the Stream CA). Publication of the magazine is only one of the main activities of this civic association. The aim of the following text is to give an account of Against the Stream CA and NOTA BENE. The text aims to describe the origin, activities and functioning of Against the Stream CA and also considers its organisational structure. Material for the article was acquired during preliminary research for a thesis, using the research methods of participant observation and interview.
