Tourism, apart from its textbook definitions, is mainly about education, familiarizing and explaining our self-awareness; learning how differently the world can be organized. Tourism is also about appreciating the miracles of nature, among others, the value of things judged as either good or bad and perception of interconnected events as auniform whole. An important role is played by our cognitive curiosity, freed from excessive self-satisfaction. Apparently, the sense of surprise and conscious principles of ‘building’ own identity extend the cognitive possibilities of an individual and facilitate the answer to the ‘Who are you?’ question; provide the opportunity for the development of motivation for active and creative functioning.
