The conversation deals with the heritage understood as a particular form of cultural production which forms something new but which at the same time refers back to the past. What is the difference between heritage and tradition? What is legacy and difficult heritage? Insightful look at those terms draws interesting conclusions. Analysed examples are taken from the Jewish, the Maori, the Aboriginal and the Japanese culture. The article also raises the questions of the difficult history of the Nazi period of that of the Polish People’s Republic.
