One of the roles of a university is to undertake research projects. An important element of this research is to combinetheory with practice, the result of which is to create things that are both useful and necessary. These undertakings when implementedare called development projects. An example of such an undertaking was the realization of the project Construction of a prototypepolice multifunctional mobile command post, which was implemented by a consortium consisting of the Police Academy, Szczytnoand AMZ Kutno Sp. z o.o. Dangers associated with large-scale high-risk events and possible acts of terrorism and large-scale publicdisturbances, result in the need for effective countermeasures, using the latest solutions and technologies. The efficiency of policeoperations command demands the location of the command posts at the scene to provide direct oversight of safety, support in takingdecisions, coordination, and thus achieve an effective chain of command. A fresh look at the way in which Police are equipped withmodern means of surveillance, command, transport and combat support points to the necessity for introducing specialist commandvehicles to the Police inventory. The result of the work of the consortium was to create a prototype for the “Żubr — ARGUS” mobilecommand post.
