Artykuł ma charakter z założenia interdyscyplinarny, co jest związane z naukowym paradygmatem historii sztuki. Wykorzystuję w nim wybrane narzędzia zaprzyjaźnionych nauk: filozofii, socjolopsychologii, politologii, antropologii kulturowej, które przyswajałam sobie przyglądając się setkom muzeów odwiedzanych w kraju i za granicą, a jednocześnie od środka własnej instytucji, w której pracuję od 2000 (z 4 letnią przerwą), starając się, na ile to możliwe, zachować niezależny status teoretyka i praktyka zarazem. Zaczynając od nowego kryterium podziału muzeów na socjotechniczne i społeczne szkicuję najtrudniejsze wyzwania współczesności. Wskazuję na podlegające dynamice kultury, zmienne w czasie znaczenia tytułowych pojęć: sztuka, nauka i polityka, które ulegając deformacji w praktyce niezależnie od teorii funkcjonują w opinii potocznej. W opisie celowo używam języka metafor naszej kultury, który pozwala odesłać do określonych obszarów naszej zbiorowej samoświadomości, z zachowaniem umiaru w zakresie eksponowania aparatury naukowej; odwołuję się głównie do autorytetu naukowego Hannah Arendt i Pierre’a Bourdieu. Od polityki przechodzę do życia społecznego, lokalizując w nim muzea oraz przyglądając się zasadom funkcjonowania społeczności muzealników, czyli w moim odczuciu wszystkich zatrudnionych w muzeach pracowników. Uwagi końcowe podkreślają znaczenie odpowiedzialności za obraz i słowo w kulturze, wagę myślenia, wyobraźni i wrażliwości jako credo sformułowanej przeze mnie idei muzeum bez przemocy.

Due to the scientific paradigm of art history, this article was intended to be of interdisciplinary character. I used selected tools of the following related fields of science: philosophy, social psychology, political science, cultural anthropology that I adopted either when visiting numerous museums in Poland and abroad or when analyzing the institution where I have been working since 2000 (with 4 years break). I tried though to maintain an independent status of a theoretician and practician at the same time. Beginning with the new distinction between sociotechnical and social museums, I present the biggest challenges of our time. I point out the notions, which are constantly changing due to the dynamics of the culture: art, science and politics, which are being deformed in practice and – notwithstanding the theory – are present in popular opinion. In the description I deliberately use the language of metaphors of culture, as this refers to certain areas of our collective self-consciousness with moderate exposition of scientific apparatus. In particular, reference has been made to scientific authority of Hannah Arendt and Pierre Bourdieu. As far as the area of social life is concerned, I analyzed both museums and behavior of museum experts – which in my opinion are all museum employees. Final remarks highlight the importance of responsibility for a picture and a word in the culture, the power of thinking, imagination and sensitivity constituting the credo of violence-free museums idea that I have created.
