Whilst appreciating the role of hypnotic suggestibility in psychotherapy, this paper is concerned with hypnotic phenomena that may be used in conjunction with client centered therapy, which involves the counsellor acting upon the hypothesis that the individual has a sufficient capacity to deal constructively with conscious aspects of his/her life.
