The article seeks to analyse the phenomenon of Jewish prostitution in Lublin and Lublin voivodeship during the two inter-war decades. This text focuses on the description of the following problems: the geography and statistics of Jewish prostitution in individual towns of Lublin voivodeship (Lublin, Chelm, Siedlce, Zamosc and some smaller towns) as well as crime rate and the incidence of venereal diseases among Jewish prostitutes. The article also contains basic information regarding the issue of prostitution in the Second Republic. The analysis of the problem leads the author to the conclusion that prostitution is a phenomenon that was a component of assimilation of the community of Jewish women in a very broad sense and understood in a peculiar manner. Prostitution was becoming a bridge between two different worlds, which rarely met in the Lublin region in normal circumstances.
