Manifestation of a hegemony of the Republic South Africa's foreign policy at the regional, continental and global scenes was analysed in this paper. South Africa strongly emphasizing its African identity and having at her disposal all features of the regional hegemon was not able to take over decisive political leadership of the SADC region and of the continent. The thesis suggests and documents that perception/impact of South Africa's foreign policy increases proportionally to the distance between Pretoria/Tshwane and a capital of a country/region or organization. Analysing trends of socio-economic changes in South Africa the author came to the conclusions that impact of South Africa's foreign policy at the international scene will be decreasing with time.
