W mediach masowych dominują zazwyczaj dwa, skrajnie różne, wizerunki osób niepełnosprawnych – jako osób potrzebujących pomocy albo jako bohaterów dokonujących niezwykłych czynów („superkaleka”). W artykule zastosowano analizę ramowania (framing analysis) artykułów prasowych, związanych z problematyką niepełnosprawności, pochodzących z dwóch najchętniej czytanych polskich dzienników – „Faktu” oraz „Gazety Wyborczej”. Celem badania była weryfikacja tezy o dominacji dwóch ram interpretacyjnych – osoby nie­pełnosprawnej jako ofiary lub bohatera i sprawdzenie, czy istnieją rozbieżności w przedsta­wianiu osób niepełnosprawnych w ww. tytułach prasowych.

There are two dominant ways of portraying disabled people in the media – either as people needing help or heroes achieving the extraordinary (‘super-crips’). The article uses framing analysis in order to examine disability-related texts from two most-read Polish daily papers – “Fakt” and “Gazeta Wyborcza”. The aim of the study was to determine whether the two frames: disabled person as a helpless victim or a ‘super-crip’ are still the dominant ways of portraying disability and if there are any discrepancies in this respect between the two newspapers.
