After accession to the EU, Poland has consistently been building its strong position in shaping the EU’s external policy. First of all, trying to influence the decisions of the establishment and implementation of the Eastern Partnership. The Polish government realises that to gain a strong position in the EU and the opportunity to infl uence decisions regarding the EP can be worked out only through normalization of relations with its eastern neighbors, especially with Russia. Unfortunately, EP initiative so far achieved partly successful. Of the six countries participating in the Partnership, only 3 have moved closer to the EU – Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. Ukraine’s pro-Western choice provoked the aggressive policy of Russia, which caused a crisis between the EU and Russia.
