The aim of this paper is to present James I (1603-1625) from the perspective of his sexuality and thus evaluate to what extent this first Stuart king allowed his personal desires to influence his monarchical duties. Also, the intention of this work is to assess the role of his particular favourites with reference to their impact on the King’s home and foreign policy within his twenty-three year reign.
