W artykule podjęto zagadnienie dotyczące ważnego okresu w rozwoju teologii katolickiej. Pozakościelne ruchy reformatorskie z kolei stały się swoistym impulsem do podejmowania prób tworzenia nowej teologii i tak rzeczywiście się stało. Szczytem reformy Kościoła katolickiego był bez wątpienia Sobór Trydencki, dzieło teologów zaaprobowane przez najwyższe instytucje kościelne. Wśród teologów szczególną pozycję zajmuje Melchior Cano i to dzięki O miejscach teologicznych, dziełu udostępnionemu polskiemu Czytelnikowi przez ks. bpa prof. dr hab. Juliana Wojtkowskiego, za co należy się mu wdzięczność i szacunek. Oby wyrazem tych postaw była lektura tegoż dzieła. Szczególną uwagę – z powodu zainteresowań autora artykułu – poświęcono tu roli filozofii w teologii w ujęciu M. Cano

In the article one undertook the problem concerning of the important period in the development of the Catholic theology. On the other hand, extrachurch reform movements constant a specific impulse to assume the attempts of the creation of the new theology, and really it became. A top of the reform of the Catholic Church was without a doubt the Tridentine Council, as the theologians' action approved by chief Church institutions. Among theologians the special position is occupied by Melchior Cano because of the De locis theologicis (O źródłach teologii) – the opus is delivered to Polish Readers by bishop professor Julian Wojtkowski, for this we should to show him the gratitude and respect. Let us hope so an expression of these attitudes will be the reading of this book. The special attention – because of interests of the author of the article - is on the meaning of the philosophy in the theology according to M. Cano
