Artykuł skupia się na przyczynach oraz analizie referendum przeprowadzonego w Szko-cji 18 września 2014 r. Opisane zostały również wcześniejsze dążenia Szkotów do uzyska-nia niepodległości oraz reforma dewolucyjna przeprowadzona w 1998 r. Analizie poddane zostały nie tylko wyniki referendum (z podziałem na wiek oraz regiony Szkocji), ale tak-że reakcje Wielkiej Brytanii, jak i pozostałych państw. Ponadto opisane zostały referen-da na świecie po zakończeniu II wojny światowej, a także plany co do przyszłości Szkocji.

The article focused on the roots of independence aspirations in Scotland and analyzed referendum in Scotland marked 18. September 2014; also described devolution carried out in 1998; analyzed not only the results of the referendum (by age and region of Sco-tland), but also the reactions of the UK and the rest of the world; described the referen-dums in the world after the World War II as well as plans for the future of Scotland.
