The existence of a shared market in the EU creates many advantages for the consumers. It provides them, among others, with a wider range of products and competitive prices, but this comes with potential threats. These concern, for instance, dishonest product or service information, or releasing goods that pose a threat to consumers’ health and lives. Moreover, the excessive amount of information about products and services confuse the consumers when it comes to side effects. The conclusion drawn from this is that the consumer’s position on a uniform EU market is much weaker than the producers’ and service providers’, and requires constant and increased protection. These issues are raised and gradually regulated by law by EU institutions and appropriate bodies of its member countries.
